Обзор Команды

Национальная Сборная Швеции и Шведская Федерация Футбола созданы в 1904. Это сильная команда, хотя и без титулов, но постоянно прогрессирующая с 2000, под руководством тренера Лагербека. В Евро 2008 вышла из группы Ф, где заняла 2-е место.

История

Сборная Швеции сыграла свой 1-й международный матч с Норвегией 12 июля 1908 и выиграла 11-3! В этом же году Швеция /Ш./ проиграла 1-12 Английским Любителям на Летней Олимпиаде. Ш. принимала Олимпиаду 1912, участвовала в 1920 и завоевала бронзу /первая медаль в истории сборной!/ в 1924.

Первым выступлением Жёлто-Голубых в Кубке Мира стал турнир 1934 в Италии. Шведы обыграли Аргентину 3-2, но в четвертьфинале приграли Германии 1-2. В розыгрыше 1938 Ш. попала прямо в четвертьфинал /Австрия выбыла, т.к. была захвачена Германией/, где победила Кубу 8-0! В полуфинале венгры разгромили шведов 5-1. На Олимпиаде 1948 Ш. выиграла 1-ю игру у Австрии 3-0, затем - у Кореи 12-0. Ведомые тренером англичанином Джорджем Рэйнором она победила датчан в полуфинале и впервые вышла в финал. На Уэмбли в финале Ш. победила Югославию 4-2, получив свой первый титул. В Кубке Мира 1950 за Ш. играли только любители. Несмотря на такой гандикап, шведы победили в группе, но в финальной стадии были разгромлены хозяевами бразильцами 7-1. В следующем матче они уступили будущим чемпионам Уругваю 2-3, а затем обыграли Испанию 3-1. Ш. завоевала 3-е место и первую медаль в Кубке Мира! В 1954 Ш. не прошла отбор, а в 1958 принимала Кубок Мира. Федерация разрешила профессионалам участвовать. В группе с Мексикой, Венгрией и Уэльсом шведы победили 3-0 мексиканцев, 2-1 - Венгрию и сыграли вничью 0-0 с Уэльсом. В четвертьфинале была победа над СССР, в полуфинале - над Зап.Германией 3-1. Впервые в истории Ш. вышла в финал! Несмотря на отличную игру шведов в финале, бразильцы победили 5-2. До сих пор это лучшее достижение скандинавов в Кубке Мира. Ш. была одной из лучших в мире в 50-х, но в 1962 и 1966 не прошла отбора, а в 1970 выбыла после 1-го раунда. В 1974 шведы сыграли вничью с болгарами и голландцами, победили 3-0 Уругвай. Во 2-й групповой стадии проиграли Польше 0-1 и Зап.Германии 2-4, победив Югославию 2-1 и заняв в итоге 5-е место. В 1982 и 1986 шведы опять не попали и выбыли после 1-го раунда из турниров 1978 1990. В 1992 они впервые приняли участие В Евро как хозяева турнира. Играли в группе с Данией /будущий победитель/, Францией и Англией. Ш. выиграла у Англии и Дании, сыграла вничью 1-1 с Францией и победила в группе. В полуфинале шведы потерпели поражение от немцев, но остались единственными, кто одолел датчан. В Кубке Мира 1994 Ш. оказалась в группе В с Бразилией, Камеруном и Россией. С одной победой над Россией и двумя ничьими шведы вышли во вторую стадию. Выиграли у Саудовской Аравии 3-1, а в четвертьфинале была легендарная игра с Румынией. После гола шведов под конец 2-го тайма румынам удалось сравнять счёт на последних минутах. На 101-й минуте румыны вышли вперёд, через 5 минут Кеннет Андерссон сквитал гол. По пенальти Ш. вышла в полуфинал, где проиграла Бразилии 0-1. В матче за 3-е место Ш. разгромила болгар и завоевала бронзу, забив больше всех мячей за турнир - 15. Сборная Ш. не вышла в Евро 1996 и Кубок Мира 1998, в Евро 2000 не прошла 1-й раунд. В Кубке Мира 2002 проиграла Сенегалу в Раунде 16. В Евро 2004 победили в группе, обойдя Данию И Италию! В четвертьфинале шведы по пенальти уступили голландцам. В Кубке Мира 2006 Ш. стала 2-й в группе, обыграв Парагвай и сыграв вничью с Англией и Тринидадом и Тобаго. Вышли в раунд 16, где были выбиты хозяевами немцами. Ш. участвует в Евро 2008 в группе Д с Испанией, Россией и Грецией.

Stars of the Current Squad Kim Källström is a midfielder currently playing for Olympique Lyonnais. Nicknamed Kongo-Kim, he is well-known for his powerful shots and his passing. He started his international career in 2001 against Finland. He showed a great potential in the 2006 World Cup, helping Sweden to reach the second tour. So far, he has scored a total of 8 goals in 52 appearances.

Anders Svensson is the playmaker and one of the most experienced players in the Swedish National Team. He has a personal record of 86 caps and 15 goals. He plays as a midfielder and earned his first cap in 1999 against South Africa. In the 2008 Euro Qualifying Stage, he started in 11 games and scored 2 goals. He is currently playing for IF Elfsborg, a Swedish Football Club.

Zlatan Ibrahimović is one of the best strikers in the world and is currently playing for Inter Milan.He started his international career on January 31, 2001 in a friendly against Faroe Islands. His first international competition was the 2002 FIFA World Cup, but Senegal eliminated Sweden in the Round of 16.In Euro 2004, he netted a penalty against Bulgaria, and did an impressive match against Italy by scoring a wonderful equalizer in the last minute. However, Sweden lost against Netherlands in a shootout after he missed his penalty. He didn’t score any goals in the 2006 World Cup, even though he was the top scorer of the qualifications with 8 goals in 10 matches. He didn’t play the first 3 Euro 2008 qualifiers against Liechtenstein, Iceland and Spain after having an argument with his coach. However, he returned for Sweden’s loss against Northern Ireland on March 28, 2007. On November 12, 2007, he was named 2007 Swedish Golden Ball. He has scored 18 goals in 49 matches with his national team.

Niclas "Alex" Alexandersson is a side midfielder who also plays full back. He started his international career in 1993 and has since earned 104 caps and scored 7 goals. He is the most capped player of the Swedish National Team. He is currently playing for IFK Göteborg, a Swedish Football Club.

Fredrik Ljungberg plays as a winger and is one of the most experienced players in the Swedish National Team. He started his international career in 1998 in a match against USA. He has been the captain of his national team since 2006 and has a personal record of 67 caps with a total of 13 goals.

Team Legends

Henrik Larsson is a striker who started his international career for Sweden in 1993. He originally chose to retire from the national team in 2002, but eventually returned to the team for their campaign at the 2004 Euro: he scored 3 goals in 4 matches, leading Sweden to the quarter-finals of the tournament. Moreover, his diving header against Bulgaria was voted Best Goal of the 2004 European Championships. He definitely retired from international football after the 2006 World Cup. He scored a total of 36 goals in 93 games, many of which he played in midfield or as a winger.

Thomas Ravelli is a former goalkeeper who played for the Swedish National Team from 1981 to 1997; he played in the 1990 World Cup, Euro 92, and the 1994 World Cup, when Sweden finished third. He is the all-time appearance leader with a record of 143 caps! He is especially well known for saving two goals during the penalty shootout that ended the quarterfinal match between Sweden and Romania in the 1994 World Cup, leading his team to the semi-finals.

Gunnar Gren is a former striker. One of Sweden's all-time greats, he started his international for Sweden career in 1940 in a friendly against Finland. Member of the Swedish team that were runners-up in the 1958 World Cup, he made 57 appearances for the national team, scoring 32 goals. He played his last game in 1958 against Denmark in a 4-4 draw.

Kenneth Anderson is a former striker. He started his international for Sweden career in 1990. In the 1994 World Cup, he led his team to reach the semi-finals by scoring 5 goals in the tournament, especially his header in the quarter-final against Romania. He made 83 appearances and scored 31 goals for the Swedish National Team.
